Let’s Get Moving and Exercise Together
The project “Let’s Get Moving and Exercise Together” is a project aimed at promoting the value of proper and regular exercise among students of the University of Rijeka and citizens of the City of Rijeka. The project is intended for students of the University of Rijeka and citizens of the City of Rijeka with the aim of encouraging, educating and motivating them for proper exercise and movement. The project runs from March 2015 to June 2015 and consists of three parts. In the first part of the project, students of the Professional Undergraduate Study Programme in Physiotherapy undergo training and short-term professional development under the expert guidance of Jasna Lulić Drenjak, Professor of Kinesiology from the Department of Physiotherapy. In the second part of the project, students voluntarily conduct free recreational training sessions for all students of the University of Rijeka and citizens of the City of Rijeka. In the third part of the project, on the occasion of World Health Day, a lecture is held for all citizens and pupils of the City of Rijeka and students of the University of Rijeka. The topic of the lecture is the importance of exercise and movement in the 21st century, entitled “Exercise for Better Health”. The implementation of this project was co-financed by the University of Rijeka Foundation within the call Energy for Development: Support for Student Ideas and Projects for Community Development, 2014–2015, and the programme was supported by funds from the Student Union of the University of Rijeka. The project leader is Kruno Topolski, President of the Student Union of the Faculty of Health Studies.
Student Health Centre
The project “Student Health Centre” is designed with the aim of promoting student health. The first activity within the project is the development of a website that will serve as a base for all information about clubs, sports events and other public health activities in the City of Rijeka. The second activity within the project is participation in the National Programme “Living Healthy” of the Ministry of Health and the Croatian Institute of Public Health in the segment Walking Towards Health. The third activity is a study that will be conducted among the student population on health and lifestyles. Within the project, the humanitarian event “Wings for Life” will be visited and the action Rent-a-bikeRi will be organised. Rent-a-bikeRi is an initiative promoting cycling, and funds have been secured for the free rental of 20 bicycles for students of the University of Rijeka. The programme is supported by funds from the Student Union of the University of Rijeka. The project leader is Kruno Topolski, President of the Student Union of the Faculty of Health Studies.
Nursing Day 2015
The project “Nursing Day 2015” is a public health initiative of students of the professional study programme in Nursing of the Faculty of Health Studies, held for the fourth consecutive year. As part of the project, students of the professional undergraduate study programme in Nursing measure blood pressure and blood plasma glucose levels for citizens of the City of Rijeka and provide education on healthy lifestyle habits as well as responsible health behaviour (12 May 2015 from 9:00 to 15:00 on Korzo). In the second part, a public forum “Nursing in Croatia – What Next?” is held, addressing current and future challenges of nursing in the Republic of Croatia (12 May 2015 from 13:00 to 14:30 in the City Council of the City of Rijeka). The purpose of this project is to provide students with the opportunity to contribute to the prevention of these diseases through their participation, as well as to apply acquired theoretical knowledge in practice, with the aim of increasing public awareness. The project is fully funded by the Student Union of the University of Rijeka. The project leader of “Nursing Day 2015” is Mario Vidović, student representative of Nursing.
