About the Programme
The lack of licensed nurses caring for persons with stoma, wounds and incontinence, which is widespread at the European level, was the reason for initiating a programme for the acquisition of competencies of nurses in the field of enterostomal therapy. Upon completion of the educational programme developed according to the guidelines of the World Council of Enterostomal Therapists, participants will receive a certificate of enterostomal therapist recognised by WCET (World Council of Enterostomal Therapists) and will be qualified to provide assistance and care to persons with stoma, wounds and incontinence.
The programme enables targeted education of nurses in the field of stoma care, wound care and incontinence. The needs of patients upon returning to the social environment require the implementation of this programme. After discharge from healthcare institutions, patients are left to themselves and to healthcare professionals who do not have adequate knowledge and skills to manage patients with the aforementioned conditions. The enterostomal therapy education programme is implemented according to the guidelines recommended by WCET. The programme has its value as it enables bachelors of nursing to acquire additional skills and competencies in the field of enterostomal therapy, incontinence and care of chronic and surgical wounds.
