The Centre for Quality of the Faculty of Health Studies in Rijeka operates as a key body for the systematic promotion and assurance of high educational standards. The primary task of the Centre is the development and continuous improvement of institutional mechanisms for systematic evaluation, as well as the coordination of continuous professional and expert development across all areas of the Faculty’s activities: nursing, midwifery, physiotherapy, radiological technology, nutrition, and mental health.
The work of the Centre is based on:
- the Act on Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education,
- the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG),
- the Statute of the University of Rijeka,
- and the Statute of the Faculty.
In addition to the Regulations on the Quality Assurance and Enhancement System of the University of Rijeka and the Quality Assurance Handbook of the University of Rijeka, the system of quality assurance and improvement is also defined by the Regulations on the Quality Assurance and Enhancement System of the Faculty of Health Studies in Rijeka.
The Centre develops a culture of quality through the following activities:
- Quality dialogue: Raising awareness of the culture of quality within the Faculty and its teaching bases
- Standardisation: Aligning the system with European and national higher education standards
- Participation: Active involvement of all staff and students in improvement processes
- Programme innovation: Development of study programmes based on the latest scientific knowledge
- Monitoring and review: Continuous performance monitoring and adaptation of quality policies
- Professional development: Ongoing education of teaching and administrative staff
The functional unit of the Centre for Quality is the Committee for Quality Assurance and Enhancement. The Committee includes representatives of the management, teaching staff, students, administrative staff, and external stakeholders.

The Committee for Quality Assurance and Enhancement is a body responsible for overseeing the quality of teaching, scientific, and professional work at the Faculty. The primary task of the Committee is to coordinate, organise, and implement evaluation procedures, as well as to develop internal mechanisms for quality assurance and enhancement at the Faculty level.
